Relieve Stress
What is stress?
Stress is something we experience when we are under pressure and unable to cope. Everyone experiences stress from time to time, and we all experience it differently.
Different events and situations can cause stress, and what one person might find very stressful – for example, a parachute jump – another might find fun.
Stress is our brain’s primaeval response to perceived threats. Our brains release adrenaline and cortisol that puts us in ‘fight or flight’ mode. Usually this feeling soon passes, but if we are regularly exposed to pressures that trigger this response, the stress will build up over time.
So, for example, things like work-related stress or financial concerns can lead to chronic (on-going) stress. Stress over extended periods can be very unpleasant, and have a negative impact on our mental, emotional and physical health.
